Crossroads College Preparatory School Mission Statement
Crossroads College Preparatory School is a small, independent school nestled in the DeBaliviere Place Neighborhood in the Central West End, and is characterized by a rich history of cultural diversity with an emphasis on college preparation for middle and upper school young men and women. Crossroads College Preparatory School provides an academic atmosphere for students to develop by learning traditionally and experientially in an informal environment that blends hard work and scholarship with humor, imagination, and discovery. Graduates of Crossroads College Preparatory School demonstrate academic prowess, the ability to think critically, aesthetic appreciation, and a strong belief in themselves and their ability to succeed.

Admission Procedure and Requirements
The following are required for consideration of admission to Crossroads College Prep:
- Complete Independent Schools of St. Louis (ISSL) Common Application Form (section A & B)
- $50 Application Fee
- Transcripts and all other pertinent school information (obtained by giving section C to current school)
- ½ day student visit
- Parent visit and interview
- ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam) – please call school for upcoming dates and registration
- One teacher recommendation form (this is section D of the ISSL Common Application Form)
- One supplementary letter of non-academic recommendation (preferably in the form of a letter)
Application:
The admission process begins once the parent and student sections (Forms A and B) of the ISSL common application is completed and submitted, either on paper or electronically. If you wish to apply online, please use our website to do so, www.crossroadscollegeprep.org. An application will not be processed unless the $50 application fee accompanies it. Applications are accepted beginning in September and are considered until the deadline in January.
The deadline for applications for the 2008-2009 school year is January 15, 2008. Applicants will be informed of admission decisions by March 13, 2008, and will be required to submit a contract and deposit by April 7, 2008. Financial aid awards will be made after the regular admission deadline for on-time applicants. Applications will be considered after the deadline if space is available.
Transcripts:
Please complete Form C from the Common Application and submit it to your child’s current school. All transcripts and school records must be mailed directly from the school to Crossroads College Preparatory School. Crossroads College Prep will not accept any hand delivered transcripts. Information such as health records, standardized tests scores, and any other information part of the permanent record should be mailed along with the student’s grades. This form should be given to the school at the end of the semester, but before mid-January to ensure sufficient processing time.
½ day student visit:
Prospective students are required to schedule a visit to Crossroads College Preparatory School for a ½ day. Visits can be arranged on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 12:30 p.m. Prospective students are paired with a current student and visit a number of classes. Half-day visits must be scheduled ahead of time through the Admissions Office (314) 367-8101. A prospective student may visit at any time during the application process. It is not necessary to have a completed application on file with the school prior to scheduling a visit.
Parent visit and interview:
Parents of prospective students are also required to schedule a time to tour the school and meet with the Director of Admission and possibly the Head of School. Parent visits must be scheduled ahead of time through the Admissions Office. Similar to the student visit, it is not necessary to have an application on file prior to scheduling a parent visit.
ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam):
The ISEE is administered at various times during the admission season at several locations. A student may take the test at any test site listed in the ISEE student guide. Please refer to the enclosed schedule of ISEE test dates or visit the ERB website at www.iseetest.org for more information. The school code for Crossroads College Preparatory School is 262941.
Supplementary letter of recommendation:
In addition to the Form D provided in the ISSL Common Application, Crossroads College Preparatory School requires a non-academic letter of recommendation. This letter should come from an individual who knows the student outside of the classroom. This could come from a religious leader, scout leader, music instructor, dance teacher, camp counselor, etc. The supplementary letter of recommendation does not need to follow the same checklist as the one provided in the Common Application.
Application Fee:
The application fee for the 2008-2009 academic year is $50. The application fee may be paid in cash or by check payable to Crossroads College Preparatory School.
